DVD discs are available instead of or in addition to USB stick for viewing on set-top DVD player’s or on computers with a DVD drive.
Once your tapes are transferred to digital, footage can be conveniently accessed and shared with your family. Extracts can be edited, shared and transferred to phones/ tablets, to file sharing services such as Dropbox/ Google Drive or video hosting services such as Youtube and Vimeo.

The duration of each tape will be noted during the transfer process and charged accordingly. If you need to have an idea of budget in advance, you can consider a likely average duration and make your own approximate estimate of costs. Sorry we cannot help advise until playing back your tapes
USB stick is currently the most popular format due to wide compatibility with Smart TVs, popular media devices and computers. If any of the intended recipients still have a DVD player, a physical DVD disc can be supplied instead. If you prefer to cover all bases for future flexibility and increased backup, both MP4 and DVD formats can be supplied for an additional £10 per tape.
It is preferred for us to supply the USB Stick, sticks are tested in advance. A one of cost of £10 is charged per stick we supply and is sized up accordingly at no extra charge for larger batches of tapes so everything fits on 1 stick. Additional stick copies are £10 each. You can supply your own stick at the drop off time if you prefer and have large sizes available, such as 8GB or higher. Add a one off cost of £5 for us handling and transferring files to your own stick.
Further technical info if supplying your own: Allow 1.2 GB approx per hour of video. Also remember that the formatted capacity is less than the manufacturers stated capacity. i.e. a 16 GB stick typically will have less than 15 GB usable space.
I work from a studio in a house and don’t have set hours. I come and go at various times. Therefore, please arrange an appointment in advance or before traveling. Times of operation are typically between 9am and 7pm.

Having your videos sorted in order from oldest to most recent makes sense for archiving and viewing continuity. Therefore it is recommended to check any tape labelling and add numerical order if you wish, if not already done. Do not worry if this is not possible as you can rename MP4 files yourself when you receive. If labelling is on outer cases and not on tapes, do your best to try match correctly in case tapes are not in the correct cases. If tapes are not labelled, do not worry. Check handwriting is legible, feel free to add post-it notes with clear labels or a list of tape names can be sent digitally by email which can be copied and pasted when creating and naming your files. You can number with 2 digits such as from 01,02, 03 if you wish in order. Also avoid punctuation, use only spaces, dashes and underscores in names. If you have access to a computer, you can always rename the files yourself to suit.
We can play the tape where it currently is positioned, rewind to check and rewind to the very start to check the first few minutes. If the tape is blank or there is unimportant/ unwanted TV recordings on VHS tapes, there is no charge and the tape will not be transferred.
Or want to propose a time that suits you to drop off tapes? Queries can be discussed at the time of dropping off. Individual tapes can be enclosed in a padded envelope and posted through the letterbox any time along with a note which includes your contact details. Contact us first before doing so.
